Boxing Day Horse Racing:
The most famous race held on Boxing Day is the King George VI chase. The event is traditionally held at Kempton Park Racecourse in London.
Kempton Park was originally opened as a racecourse in 1878, but during 1939-1946 Kempton became a prisoner-of-war camp. When re-opened in 1947, it was decided that the King George VI Chase, normally held in February, would be moved to Boxing Day.
