The X Factor is a British reality-TV take on a typical talent show, contested by aspiring singers of all varieties. The X Factor is the biggest televised talent competition in Europe, with 200,000 people auditioning for series four. The X Factor is Simon Cowell's replacement for the hugely popular Pop Idol, because of rights of ownership, which he now has with the X Factor. The competition is open to anyone over 14, including solo artists and groups.

The current judges are Simon Cowell, Sharon Osbourne, Louis Walsh and Dannii Minogue. The show is now fronted by Dermot O’Leary.
