Wimbledon - Betting Odds / Tips
Grand Slam 3 – End June > Early July
The four tournaments allow defending Wimbledon champion Roger Federer a chance to surpass Pete Sampras’ record of fourteen Grand Slam victories. Federer, currently on twelve following his victory in last year’s US Open, can go to fifteen if he wins the remainder of the Grand Slam tournaments. Wimbledon is the only of the Grand Slam tournaments to be played on a grass court. It hosts the best tennis players from over sixty countries and has been home to some of the best matches ever seen. The tournament was first played in 1877, where there was a temporary three-plank stand offering seats to 30 people who got to witness the first ever Wimbledon final, won by W. Spencer Gore - This year Wimbledon expects to house over 500,000 during the course of the tournament.
Last year’s total prize fund for the tournament was well over £11million, with £700,000 going to the singles champions. A similar prize fund is expected for this year’s events.
This is the provisional schedule for the tournament:
- June 23rd: Men’s and Ladies’ singles start
- June 24th: Men’s and Ladies’ doubles start
- June 26th: Mixed Double start
- July 5th: Ladies’ Singles Final, Men’s Doubles Final, Ladies’ Doubles Final
- July 6th: Men’s Singles Final, Mixed Doubles Final
