Moto GP: USA

Back to Motorsport

Moto GP action returns to the USA for the third time since its re-introduction to the World Championship Circuit on Sunday 22nd July. The Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix takes place at the famous Laguna Seca racetrack and five-time champion Valentino Rossi will be looking to reduce Casey Stoner's lead at the top of the World Championship standings.

Stoner enjoys a 32-point lead over Rossi and, regardless of the result in America, he will go into the summer break at the top of the standings. Rossi, who failed to finish last time out in Germany, will be looking to better his performance in the USA last year where he failed to finish the race due to a mechanical problem.

Australian Ducati rider Stoner failed to fully capitalise as Rossi slid out of the race in lap five in Germany, finishing in his lowest position this year, fifth. Stoner has enjoyed top-form this season, taking five victories to date and Rossi will have to show his champion-pedigree if he is to become MotoGP champion for the sixth time.
