After a disappointing World Cup and a up-and-down series against the West Indies, England have another chance this summer to prove their critics wrong against India. Following this 3-test series, England then have the chance to show the fans that they can compete in the ODI's as they meet India in a 5-match series.

Indian cricket is also in turmoil after a World Cup which saw them fail to make the Super-8, meaning that both countries have a point to prove. Captain Michael Vaughn will be back in the side after being dropped from the ODI squad following his resignation as ODI captain.

England have a good record against India having lost only 17 of 92 test matches.

Michael Vaughn (Captain) Michael Vaughn is the most successful England Test captain of all time having won more matches than any of his predecessors. Vaughn has scored almost 5000 test runs in his test career; however it is captaincy in the field that he is really famous for. His ability to set the right field can win is team matches and he is never too proud to listen to the ideas of his teammates. Vaughn will certainly be an integral part of this forthcoming test series.

Kevin Pietersen The hard hitting, no-nonsense Hampshire batsmen often comes under criticism for his all-out attacking approach, however he remains a key batsman in the England middle order. The intimidating figure and batting style of Pietersen has made him a nightmare for the world’s greatest bowlers.

Paul Collingwood New England ODI captain Paul Collingwood has become one of the most consistent batsmen in recent years for England. He can comfortably change his style of play to adapt to the situation that his team is in and with a batting average of 45.47 in his test career he has become a formidable force for his country.

Ryan Sidebottom Since returning to the side, 8 years after he first made it into the squad the left arm medium pacer has been a vital part of England's attack, claiming a number of wickets in the test series against the West Indies including a 5-wicket haul.

The 1st test commences on the 19th July 2007 at Lords cricket ground. The 2nd and 3rd tests will then be played at Trent Bridge and the Oval respectively.
