Chelsea FC

Chelsea Football Club, based in West London, was formed in 1905 and have won 3 league titles.

They play at Stamford Bridge in Fulham, with a capacity of just over 45,000.

Chelsea have not always enjoyed their current success and in the 1980's suffered many financial problems, before Ken Bates bought the club for £1, signalling a new era for the West London club with the redevelopment of Stamford Bridge. He then sold Chelsea to Russian billionaire and Oil Tycoon Roman Abramovich for £140 million .

Over £100 Million was spent by then manager Claudio Ranieri in Abramovich's first season with the London club, however, he failed to win the Premier League, which lead to him being replaced by former Porto manager, Jose Mourinho.

The often controversial Mourinho has brought much success to Chelsea including back-to-back Premier League titles in 2004/05 and 2005/06. With an unlimited budget to his name Mourinho formed a strong base of England Internationals, including John Terry, Frank Lampard and Ashley Cole and world-class international talent such as Michael Ballack, Didier Drogba and Andriy Shevchenko.

Chelsea failed to halt Manchester United's dominance of the Premiership in 2006/07, winning only the League Cup, and it has been hinted that Roman Abramovich will reduce his spending at the club. With United's summer spending spree including Owen Hargreaves, Nani and Anderson, Mourinho's men face a tough task if they are to rule the Premiership again.
