Dider Drogba
DOB March 11 1978 Birthplace Abidjan, Ivory Coast
Team Chelsea Position Striker
Didier Drogba has a huge physical presence and often plays as a lone striker for Chelsea. His brute strength makes him good at holding up the ball, while the midfielders and wingers get forward and support him. He is widely considered to be more than a handful for the premier league's best defenders. His consistently impressive form in the 2006/07 often meant that he kept £30 million Ukrainian summer signing Andrei Shevchenko out of the side. That season Drogba hit 33 goals in all competition for his club, something that has not been achieved by a Chelsea player for over 20 years.
Despite a couple of injuries and his over theatrical diving, Drogba has enjoyed a successful spell in England, scoring 42 times in 91 league appearances for Chelsea. The Ivory Coast Captain has an even more impressive record for his country, scoring 28 goals in 40 appearances.
