Ronaldo Sees Red!
16th Aug 2007Manchester United last night saw its young star see red as he was sent off and banned from the next three matches after head butting Richard Hughes of Portsmouth.
Manchester United drew at Portsmouth and it appears that Critiano Ronaldo reacted violently to provocation. United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has condemned Ronaldo for reacting and went on to say:
"Cristiano is responsible for falling into the trap of intimidation, which has happened to him a few times."
Having watched the replay Feguson decided that there was nothing "conclusive" and that Ronaldo "was provoked" and "has fallen for it."
This is Cristiano Ronaldo's third red card since he joined United, given to him by referee Steve Bennett. Ferguson also criticised the ref adding:
"Steve Bennett sent him off at Manchester City and he will have loved the opportunity to send him off again."
"Carlos Tevez didn't get any protection either, I don't know how many times he got fouled from behind. He had to suffer a lot."
