Frank Lampard, the Chelsea midfielder, has postponed talks over his contract with Chelsea, but insists he wants to remain at the club. Lampard has been in talks with Chelsea for some time now and hoped that everything would have been settled by the start of this season.

The chesea player has 2 years left on his contract and wants to stop talks for the mean time as he is worried it will distract him this coming season.

"I've told the club I don't really want to get involved in negotiations which aren't going to end well while I'm playing football," said Lampard. "That's because this is a big season for me and for the club."

There have been rumoured links between Lampard and Barcelona, but he insists he wants to stay at chelsea and finish his contract there.

"I want to stay for the rest of my career. It's as simple as that.

"The club know my intentions, and it's certainly not a money issue."

Lampard also confirmed that this contract would be his last, so he wants to get it right.
