Harrington Hits Back at Faldo

18th Jul 2007

Padraig Harrington his hit back at Nick Faldo's claims that current British golfers are too friendly ahead of this weeks Open Championship at Carnoustie.

Faldo, who has been named next year’s European Ryder Cup captain, has suggested that the reason that no European has won a major in 8 years is because of a lack of competitiveness between the Europeans. Faldo stated that in his day, the likes of himself, Nick Price and Seve Ballesteros would not be friendly and would certainly not be going out to lunch with each other.

Harrington has hit back at these claims, hinting that perhaps the reason that a European has not won a major since 1999 is because they are simply not good enough. He said that maybe the current European golfers, including himself, are not quite up to the standard for winning a major tournament, nevertheless he reassured fans that the time will soon come, maybe even this weekend.
