It is believed that the £9 million rated star began a two day spell of training with Sunderland on Monday and will head to Villa Park on Monday for a similar spell.

The Scotland number 1 has been a target of Roy Keane for some time and Martin O’Neill is believed to be in the market for a goalkeeper after learning that his current first choice Thomas Sorensen fill not be fit for the start of the season. 24-year-old Gordon has been reluctant to comment on the speculation of his transfer, but Vladimir Romanov who is the majority shareholder of Hearts has said that he will sell the keeper if he expresses a desire to leave the Edinburgh outfit.
