Ferguson hopeful of Tevez signing

17th Jul 2007

Sir Alex Ferguson remains hopeful that Manchester United will secure the signing of Carlos Tevez from West Ham United.

Tevez was at the centre of the controversy surrounding Sheffield United's relegation after his current club West Ham were only fined, rather than having points deducted, despite not having the players registration. The complexity of Tevez's ownership has led to a frustrating delay in the transfer for Manchester United, although Ferguson is confident that the deal will be wrapped up soon.

"I hope Carlos Tevez arrives....things are bowling along," Ferguson told MUTV.

However, United are keen to ensure that the transfer is all above-board so they do not suffer the same fate at West Ham.
