Everton in Hunt for the Yak

Everton are believed to be the latest of a host of Premiership teams that are interested in capturing the signature of Yakubu Aiyegbeni from Middlesborough. Borough boss Gareth Southgate is not keen on selling the Nigerian international but it is understood that West Ham United, Aston Villa, Manchester City and previous club Portsmouth have all made enquiries over the striker’s availability.

All of this unwanted speculation has clearly unsettled Yakubu and with Everton clearly having money to spend after a very quiet summer period on the transfer front, they will try to temp him in a move to Goodison Park. The 24 year old is still very much a Middlesborough player, but with renewed interest from Everton and other Premiership clubs, ‘The Yak’ may be tempted to leave the Teeside club.
