England battle to save second test
30th Jul 2007England's openers will be under pressure entering day four as they strive to save the second test against India.
Having been denied victory by the weather at Lords last week, England's batsmen struggled in the first innings at Trent Bridge, scoring just 198 runs. India took advantage, piling on a massive total of 481, 240 ahead of England.
England begin day four on 43-0 with Andrew Strauss and Alastair Cook on 21 and 17 respectively.
Strauss and Cook will be looking to bat out the first session as, with two days remaining, England will need to bat for time and it is likely they will have to remain at the crease for five sessions if they are to go into the final test at The Oval all-square.
The weather looks as though it will not help England as it did India at Lords, with sunshine forecast all day in Nottingham. With the pitch drying out, leg-spinner Anil Kumble could prove a big threat.
