England face second test defeat

31st Jul 2007

England are facing defeat in the second test against India despite a ton from capatain Michael Vaughan.

India finished the first innings 240 runs ahead of England and Vaughan produced one of his finest centuries in vain as his countrymen fell around him.

Collingwood produce a stubborn 63 to put on 112 with Vaughan and provide some resistance against an Indian bowling attack that was swinging the ball with menace.

Bell, Prior, Tremlett, Panesar and Anderson all failed to reach double figures as the home side were all-out for 355.

India start day five 10-0. requiring just 63 more runs for victory and England face entering the final test at The Oval 1-0 down.
