England concentrate on levelling the Indian Test
1st Aug 2007The English team and its coach, Peter Moores, are more concerned with levelling the scores with India than the accusations of un-sportsmanly and ill tempered tactics. England are 1-0 down after drawing the first test against India and then losing the second; and now face their first home Test defeat since 2001 against Australia.
The action at Trent Bridge was tainted slightly as the pressure was felt by both sides.
Sree Santh lost half his match fee by barging into Michael Vaughan and then proceeded to throw a nasty but accidental beamer at kevin Pietersen. The Indian skipper, Zaheer Kahn, was then notably angered by the appearance of Jelly Beans all over the wicket and accused the English side of throwing them at him.
"There was aggression as there should be with two sides trying to win for there country." Moores then went on to say:
"I don't want the whole jelly bean thing to overshadow what was a very good Test match with excellent skill by both sides."
Moores believed it was England's poor standard first innings total in conditions that suited the bowler first, that proved a decisive. Had India been chasing 180 after England had got 300 then the swing of the game could have been very different.
England now need to concentrate on tactics and play to beat this Indian side whose bowlers are still plaguing England with difficulties.
