15th Jan 2007Aussies make a play for a 6th Ashes Test in 2010/11
Australia have only just reclaimed the Ashes for Britain and already they are planning their moves at the next home series in 2010/11.
They have names Hobart, Tasmania as the location for their proposed sixth Test.
Attendance at teh Ashes was at a record breaking high last year and millions watched the Aussies reclaim the Ashes in a one-sided match, winning 5-0.
As cricket down under soars in popularity, the Now Cricket Australia board want to cash in on this heightened interest and "take Test cricket to as many people in Australia as possible."
No decision on this has yet been made, but talks are due to take place in the not to distant future.
Back in teh UL, this decision has been met with opposition, especially from England's coach, Duncan Fletcher. Fletcher has said that his team are already struggling with a huge workload and stressed that players need longer breaks between matches.
"To introduce more cricket is just going to complicate the issue because we play these long Test (series) - five against Australia, four against the West Indies, five against South Africa - whereas most sides are playing against each other in three Tests, so they can have a break," he said. "We struggle to get these breaks."
