Manchester City vs. West Ham Preview
28th September, 2009
Manchester City manager, Mark Hughes, will be hoping his team can get back to winning ways in the Premier League tonight, when his team entertain West Ham United at the City of Manchester Stadium.
In their last outing in the Premier League, City lost against fierce rivals Manchester United in stoppage time at Old Trafford eight days ago. Since then, the team from Eastlands beat Fulham in the Carling Cup, but City are desperate to do well in the Premiership.
Argentinean International, Carlos Tevez and the in-form Craig Bellamy are set to lead the City attack against their former club. Other City strikers Emmanuel Adebayor, Roque Santa Cruz and Robinho are all unavailable. City will also be without the services of Republic of Ireland midfielder Stephen Ireland, who is suffering from a virus.
West Ham look set to name the same team that lost to Bolton Wanderers in the League Cup last week due to injuries. Hammers boss Gianfranco Zola could be without centre back Matthew Upson due to a calf problem.
The East Londoners have captured only four points from their opening five league games and lost their last three in all competitions. England goalkeeper Robert Green has criticised his colleagues for complacency, he told BBC Sport “I think we’re getting above ourselves, thinking we’re better than we are at the moment”.
However, Italian manager Zola believes his side will turn things around and capture a European spot at the end of the season. "I am getting close to getting the right combination," added the former Chelsea striker.
Manchester City is 4/9 with Sky Bet, while West Ham is 17/2 with Canbet. The draw 7/2 with VC bet.
