Youngster Murray To Face Veteran Bjorkman
30th August, 2007
Andrew Murray is looking to step his game up a gear today at 16 00 BST, as he faces Jonas Bjorkman in the second round of the US Open.
20 year old Murray thrashed Pablo Cuevas in the first round, but Bjorkman, who is 35, will be a tougher contestant.
Murray believes he will need to get the average speed of his forehand up as it was a bit slow against Cuevas.
Of Bjorkman, Murray said:
"He's got a lot of experience, so he's going to have a game plan. I'm going to have to play really well to beat him."
Bjorkman reached the semi finals of the US open in New York 10 years ago. Murray has never played him though:
"I actually know him quite well."
"I chat to him a lot. He's obviously been around for a long time. He still plays really well."
"A couple of the best parts of my game are my return and my passing shot. It will be interesting to see how he tries to play against me."
If Murray can beat Bjorkman, he will the face either Luis Horna of Peru or Nicolas Almagro of Spain in the third round.
