X Factor: who's your favourite?

11th November, 2008

When one of the strongest performers went crashing out of the competition last Saturday everyone was stunned and amazed, and certainly even the bookies could not have predicted such an event. Laura White, no longer in the competition was a hot favourite to win, and her departure now paves the way for the others. So in the aftermath of this shock result, let's see where the strong odds now lie:

The strongest contender in the competition is young Diana Vickers, who despite being unable to sing last Saturday due to illness still has strong odds, 11/10 (888sport) and 6/5 (bet365). Whilst she is a hot favourite with the judges and public for her totally unique sounding voice, she still has strong competition.

Bookies odds:

  • Alexandre Burke's odds are 5/2 (betdirect)
  • Ireland's favourite, Eoghan Quigg has odds of 4.9/1 (WBX).

Whilst Ruth 'the fighter' Lorenzo and JLS are hanging on in the competition with a middle spot in the rankings, it seems that the bookies predict that people will tire, if they aren't already, of Rachel and Daniel who have odds of 59/1 (betfair) and 66/1(paddy power) respectively.

In all honesty, be wise with your bets and stake your money carefully. Whilst the judges may have firm favourites, the public will not always be swayed by their comments as shown last Saturday. Whilst Diana is the strong favourite this week, the sudden exit of Laura White has shown that anything can happen. With the backing of Ireland and Simon as his mentor, maybe the judges are right when they say Eoghan Quigg will be the dark horse to pip everyone else to the post...we shall see.
