X-Factor betting odds after ‘Jedward’ are saved
9th November, 2009
X-Factor never fails to entertain or shock the public, but after this weekend’s show fans and contestants alike were left outraged and shocked by Simon Cowell’s brutal decision. The two acts that were left to battle it out for a place in next week’s live show were Lucie Jones and John and Edward Grimes.
After the sing-off Louis Walsh understandably stood by his act voting the boys to stay in the competition whilst both the girls, Danni Minogue and Cheryl Cole opted for Lucie Jones who has remained firmly near the top of the bookies winners list, leaving Simon Cowell to make the final decision. Despite the fact that the judge has finally been granted his wish to eliminate the Grimes Twins out of the competition, he decide on a rather risky decision, sending the ultimate choice to the public vote. It was at this point the realisation swept across Lucie Jones face as Dermot O’leary announced that she would be the act going home.
It seems the Irish twin’s success on the show, with their huge fan base, made up of mainly young screaming girls and excessive public interest, has lit up money signs in Simon Cowell’s eyes explaining his confusing decision last night.
After the revelation that Simon Cowell is now going to support the pair, bookmakers Ladbrokes are offering a price of 3/1 for the boys to go all the way, which is very different from the unlikely odds of 150/1 that they were once given! In addition, Ladbrokes are offering odds of 4/1 that they will be taken under Simon Cowell’s wing being signed by his music label.
A spokesman from Ladbrokes highlighted their financial fear if the twins go on to win the show, explaining, “Simon’s decision must go down as one of the biggest shocks in recent telly betting history. He has given us bookies another week of sleepless nights as our worst nightmares could come true if Jedward win the show.”
Olly Murs is backed at favourite to win and is best priced at 2/1 with Ladbrokes, followed by Danyl Johnson and Joe McElderry at 7/2with Ladbrokes. For more X- Factor betting odds then visit the punters favourite Ladbrokes for all the latest news promotions.
