Wimbledon Womens Singles Betting Preview - Odds, tips and Reviews
3rd July, 2008
There's still loads of tennis to be played! In the womens singles, four players remain to make up the Semi and each player will be desperate to make it to the final.
Womens Singles
In the womens singles both Williams sister's look to win the championship they have dominated over the past 8 years. It's a hard one for bookies to call with Venus is priced at around 5/4 and Serena at 11/10. Venus is up against Elena Dementieva in the first semi final today, and she is priced at a decent 13/1 with Betfair to go all the way this year. Venus is looking to win the tournament for the 5th time after taking the title in 2000, 2001, 2005 and last year, and will therefore be the more experienced player in this Semi final clash. Dementieva will be looking to use her own aggressive style of play to deal with the power and pace of Venus. On the other hand the 4 time champion will be aiming to capitalize on the Dementieva serve which is known for being extremely inconsistent.
Our Tip: Venus to win in 3 sets
Serena (11/10) faces giant killer, Jie Zheng in today's other Semi final. Zheng priced at decent 12/1 with Bet 365 to win the title, represents China's first player to get to the last four of a Grand Slam final. She has already knocked out world number one Ana Ivanovic in the third round and will certainly be looking to upset the odds again by beating younger Williams sister Serena, who won Wimbledon in 2002 and 2003. Serena will be looking to use her powerful serve and aggressive nature to dominate the match, whereas Zheng will aim to repeat her the success she had Ivanovic's aggressive play.
Our Tip: Serena will be to powerful for the Zheng and win in 3 sets.
