Wimbledon Gets underway

The first week of Wimbledon has begun with excellent weather and entertaining tennis for the fans too enjoy. British hopes lie with Andy Murray who yesterday eased into the second round of the all England club tournament. Murray beat French veteran Fabrice Santoro, 6-3 6-4 7-6, on center court with a convincing performance. The 21 one year missed the tournament last year through injury and aims to become the first Brit to win the tournament since Fred Perry in 1936. Fans will also be supporting fellow Brit Chris Eaton after his surprising victory over world number 144 Boris Pasanski to reach the second round.

Murray is held at an impressive 28/1 by 888sport, Betdirect and Bet Fred to win the tournament. Murray beat the world number one Rodger Federer two years ago at the Cincinnnati Masters and has shown the ability to compete with highest seeded players.

Favorite Federer is held at 6/5 with 888sport, 11/10 with bet 365 and Paddy Power to succeed for the six consecutive year. Rival Rafael Nadal aims to win his first Wimbledon title having won the last four French opens. 888sport hold Nadal at 15/8, bet365 at 7/4 and Bet Fred at 13/8.

In the Womens singles Venus Williams aims to defend her title against tough competition. Russian Maria Sharapova is favorite with the bookies with 888sport pricing at 5/2, Bet Direct and Bet Fred at 9/4. Venus Williams is priced at around 4/1 with most bookies, with her sister Serena priced at slightly lower odds at 7/2.
