Wilkinson dropped from England Squad

11th March, 2008

Fly-half Jonny Wilkinson has been dropped from the England squad to face Ireland and replaced by upcoming star Danny Cipriani. This is the only change to the starting fifteen that lost in the dismal 15-9 defeat to Scotland last weekend. James Haskell returns to the squad after an ankle injury kept him out of the last game.

Wilkinson set the world record for the most points scored in Test rugby (1099) last weekend but has been widely criticised for a technically poor performance despite some good kicking.

Cipriani was dropped last week for disciplinary reasons after being spotted exiting a club after midnight, which most of the press thought was extremely unfair, as he was in there for little over 10 minutes and didn’t drink anything.

England are 4/9 favourites to win the Six Nations match against Ireland, who are best odds 9/5 with Bet 365 according to our live odds comparison service.
