Wilkinson Ready For Return
17th September, 2007
England’s World Cup campaign has received a well-needed boost, with the news that fly-half Jonny Wilkinson will be fit to play against Samoa on Saturday. After the embarrassing 36-0 defeat against South Africa on Friday, England have looked like only a turn of luck will see them through to the next round.
Vicotries against Samoa and Tongo in Pool A will be enough to progress to the next stage, but it will be important to put in a good performance along with a positive result if England are to be seen as serious contenders to retain the title. Stand-in fly-half Olly Barkley also missed the game against South Africa, and is now also expected to be fit in time for the game against Samoa. England are 9/2 with Ladbrokes to make the semi-finals.
