Weekend Premiership Preview
14th September, 2007
After the two-week international break, the Premiership returns with some exciting fixtures. Pick of the bunch is the North London Derby between Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur. Arsenal will look to go top with a win over Martin Jol's under-pressure Spurs. With Arsenal scoring in their last 17 Premiership encounters with Spurs, and the former conceding in all but three of their last 33 top-flight matches, both teams will have to work hard to get anything out of the game.
In the early kick-off, Liverpool travel to Portsmouth in a game where both sides will look to improve on their early league position. Everton entertain Manchester United in a game that could cause another upset as Manchester United attempt to repair the damage done by the poor start to the season. Sunderland versus Reading sees a game that many would not expect to produce many goals. Sunderland have failed to score in four and half hours of league football. Reading are the only team in the Premiership to have scored less goals than them this season, with two.
Chelsea will look to extend their record of 65 games at home without a loss, as they face the physical Blackburn. Blackburn have failed to win at the Bridge since the arrival of Mourinho. Elsewhere, Wigan face Fulham in a mid-table clash, Sven-Goran Eriksson’s Manchester City play Aston Villa, and Middleborough travel to West Ham. Find the best odds on this week's action.
