Wayne Rooney and Jermain Defoe are hopeful and prepare for the World Cup 2010.

New father Wayne Rooney has admitted his concerns and excitement to be playing against Brazil tomorrow night in preparation for the World Cup. Rooney has not faced Brazil before and with the team having won the World Cup five times before, they are leaps and bounds ahead of England, giving Rooney his determination to put his all into tomorrow’s game to make sure that he comes out on top and makes England proud.

Rooney went on to explain, “There are players like George Best and Cristiano Ronaldo who are geniuses. But if you want to be compared to players like Romario and Ronaldo and be up there with them, I feel you have to win a World Cup. Ronaldo was one of the best, if not the best, forward ever. For me to be considered among that group of players I must win the World Cup with England.”

Meanwhile, after Rooney’s unnecessary behaviour at the end of their defeat last Sunday against Chelsea, Jermain Defoe has stressed his concern that England must keep calm in games to avoid negative behaviour from lack of discipline which could inevitably forfeit the match. The striker didn’t fail to mention his bad behaviour against Portsmouth where he got sent off for foul play, but did continue to make reference to David Beckham in the World Cup 1998 where the team was left one man down and Rooney’s miss behaviour in 2006 which resulted in a red card.

Defoe also revealed Capello’s opinion on the matter explaining, “He has told us its one of the most important things, to keep 11 players on the pitch, He wants 11 players coming off the pitch at the end of a game. At this level, you can’t afford to be a man down, especially in a massive tournament. You just can’t.” He went on to say, “At that level, going down to ten men, you give the other team the advantage and you could lose the game.”

Defoe has admitted after a game where he has lost his cool, he does feel guilty that he has let his team down, he also talked about how important it is to behave at this time of the year saying, “I worry about Fabio Capello’s attitude to me being sent off, of course I do. It’s a World Cup year so you want to try and do everything right. I don’t want to let myself, or anyone else down.”

Capello has also given his team words of wisdom to help them prepare for the World Cup saying, “If you misbehave, you let your team-mates down, your country down, the manager and staff. You have to be professional and keep a cool head. Some people say it is important to have fire in your belly, but the most important thing is that you know how to control it. It is normal for people to wind you up, you must remain professional.”

Sky Bet is offering some great odds on tomorrow’s game with England priced at 15/8, 11/10 that Brazil steal a win and 5/2 that the match ends a draw.

A spokesman from Sky Bet explained, “It’s not surprising with all England’s injuries that we’ve only really seen money Brazil ahead of tomorrow’s match. The match will give Capello the perfect opportunity to assess certain areas of his side before he names his final squad for South Africa.”
