Vieira moves to Manchester City and plays his debut tonight
11th January, 2010
It has been revealed that Patrick Vieira will be returning to the Premier League after 4 and a-half years to join with Manchester City.
Vieira makes his debut tonight at Eastlands against Blackburn after having had a fitness test last week which showed that he was fit to start.
The decision to move back to a Premier League club came after Vieira did not become one of Inter Milan’s coach, Jose Mourinho first picked player, and the former Arsenal player was forced to often take a seat on the bench. Having played for England before and with the quest to join the England World Cup squad 2010, moving to Manchester City appeared to be his only option.
Vieira explained, “I am a better player for the experiences I have had. You get better with experience and age and I’ve been really lucky to play at big clubs. I’ve learned and I return to the Premier League a better player.”
City manager Roberto Mancini has made no effort to conceal his faith in the skipper explaining, “He is a winner, a really ambitious man. He came here because he knows he can achieve something.”
