US Open Final Betting Preview
8th September, 2008
The US open final takes place this evening after Andy Murray beat world number one Rafael Nadal in four sets last night. The 21 year old Scot powered his way to victory producing the best tennis of his life. Rodger Federer beat Djokovic on Saturday night to book his place in the final and he will be hoping to win his fifth successive US open title. Will the 72 year drought of British grand slam tennis champions end tonight?
Murray has had a great summer reaching the Semi Finals at Wimbledon, winning the Cincinnati masters and now reaching the final of the Open. Federer however is a fan favourite at Flushing Meadows and is expected to have the crowds backing.
The bookies have mixed odds on the two players winning. Bet 24 price Murray at 9/5 to win his first Grand Slam title and the Coral have Federer at 8/15 to win again in New York. Punters can bet on specific set scores which offer great odds. Murray is priced at 200/1 to win the first set 6-0, or around 20/1 with bet direct to win the first 6-2, which he did against Nadal in the semi's.
Our tip
Murray at 13/8 with Bet 365. Murray has played Federer three times and beaten him twice. He will be brimming with confidence after beating Nadal and knows if he plays well, he can beat Federer.
