UEFA Cup Final preview: Rangers v Zenit odds and betting

13th May, 2008

Scottish side Glasgow Ranger will tomorrow compete in their first UEFA Cup final since 1972, when they won their fourth final against another Russian side, Dynamo Moscow. Should Rangers win the final, they will remain on course to claim a historic quadruple, having already won the League Cup and having one hand on the League title and FA Cup.

Zenit are managed by former Rangers boss Dick Advocaat who started the mind games recently by suggesting that he had been in the frame for the Ranger managerial post before Walter Smith made his return.

The Russian league started in March, and Zenit have started poorly, winning just one of their first six games. They six three places from the bottom, but have four games in hand because of their UEFA Cup commitments.

Our online odds comparison service shows Zenit to be favourites to win the match, and the best odds of 27/10 with Bet 365 for Rangers to win in 90 minutes will be extremely popular, seemingly representing great value. The Scots are 6/5 to lift the trophy, whilst Zenit are 8/13 on.

Draw half time/full time at 4/1 also looks good value, whilst a Rangers win on penalties at 9/1 with Boylesports could also tempt some, especially as Rangers games in the UEFA Cup have tended to be tight, and they progressed to the final by beating Fiorentina on penalties.
