Tom Hicks JR quits Liverpool
12th January, 2010
Liverpool has been in the headlines quite a lot recently with regards to Tom Hicks JRs actions and after being left no choice other than to quit, yesterday he left his position at the club and the parent company Kop Holdings.
Hicks JR was forced to make the decision after the content of an e-mail was leaked to a Sunday newspaper, leading Hicks JR to apologise for his irrational actions.
Tom Hicks JR explained, “I have great respect for Liverpool Football Club, especially the clubs supporters, I do not want my actions to take away from the club’s future, therefore I am resigning from the board.” He summarised his statement explaining, “To the fans and the club, please accept my sincerest apologies.”
Bookies appear to believe that this upset at the club does not look to be the only one and it seems that it could be the start to a run of bad luck for the club this year. Online bookies Sky Bet are offering odds of 16/1 that their best player Steven Gerrard or Fernando Torres are sold in the Current transfer window.
In addition to this, Liverpool’s odds of winning this seasons title are lengthening and they are now backed at 8/15 to finish outside of the top 4.
A spokeswomen from Sky Bet explained, “Who knows what Liverpool’s hapless American owners will do next to the club but if Rafa wants to raise money to buy players then the only players of any value are Gerrard and Torres.”
