Tiger Woods takes an indefinite break from golf
14th December, 2009
These last few weeks have been extremely hard for Tiger Woods and his family and the entire loss of trust that fans have displayed has forced the world’s number one golfer to take some time away from the course. Woods did explain that it was an indefinite decision and has since not revealed any more about the break or when or how he will return to the sport.
Wood’s long term caddie Steve Williams has made known that he had no idea that this mysterious and disloyal lifestyle was going on. The caddie continued to defend himself explaining that he played no part in deceiving Wood’s wife telling, “I had no knowledge of what Tigers indiscretion was. I am an honest person. I had no knowledge of what was going on, if I did I would say that I did.”
The caddie as been caused considerable stress from his employer’s actions, but remains adamant that he socialises with Wood’s on a work basis only. Steve Williams admits that the type of job that he is involved in does mean that you form a close relationship with your employer but also highlighted that he is not with him the entire time, only when he is playing.
Despite the reasons for Woods decision to take some time away from the sport, after floods of allegations were revealed following Wood’s mysterious crash last month, many have backed the decision saying that it is important that the star spends some time to concentrate on his marriage which is quite understandably at breaking point.
Williams explained, “Tiger just said that he needs a break and I don’t want t put any pressure on him. He will know in his mind and his family will know in their mind, when it is the right time for him to return to playing golf. I will be there for him when is wishes to return to play.”
All of this attention to the star has caused online bookies to offer some prices on future games with the uncertainty of his return. Coral sportsbook has taken into consideration the success that Tiger Wood’s has had and the success of his rivals including Jack Nicklaus, who is the only man to stand in the way of Woods, but many believe that Wood’s has the potential to break the record.
Online bookies Coral are offering a price of 2/9 that Wood’s will manage to succeed before he finally announces his retirement, whilst there is a price of 3/1 that the golfer will not manage to achieve this. It appears that these odds are most vulnerable to changing depending on the expected return date from the star.
Other odds by the online bookies include 6/4 that Wood’s will return to the sport just in time for the 2010 US Masters with a price of 11/ 4 that he will go on to win it.
