Tiger Woods is set to win The Tour Championship

24th September, 2009

The Tour Championship starts today in Atlanta at East Lake Golf Club and after claiming his 71st PGA Tour title earlier this month, the bookies are almost certain that all time champion Tiger Woods is going to steal the title.

This will not be the first win for the professional, back in both 1999 and 2007 he stole the title and it looks as though 2009 could be another victory for Woods. Those that are offering the best odds on the world number one are Sportingbet, offering a price of 6/5 that Woods will win The Tour Championship.

A spokesman from Sky Bet explained, “Tiger is obviously the man to beat. In his last six events, he has won three tournaments and finished second twice so it will be no surprise if by Thursday afternoon he is the worst result in our book, despite the short price.”

Although Woods is set for a win, there are some other players that could prove tough competition throughout this competition. Padraig Harrington seems to be his biggest threat despite having longer odds of 14/1 with Sky Bet. Jim Furyk is priced at 16/1 with Blue Square and Steve Stricker is at 18/1 with Stan James.

There are several other betting markets for the tournament including backing Woods in the two balls today, priced at 4/1 with Stan James. If you think that this year will be Tiger Wood’s best victory, then why not take a chance and make a risky, but big potential money earner, that he will get himself a hole in one priced at 100/1 with Sky Bet!
