Tiger Woods betting odds
30th November, 2009
There has been a lot of speculation over Tiger Wood’s freak accident that happened on Friday. What can only be described as a bizarre car accident, with little clues as to why it happened, has left a lot of room for the media to fill in the gaps with their own stories leaving Wood’s furious as he is renowned for maintaining a private life.
The accident happened at about 2.25am, when Woods drove his SUV into a fire hydrant and then into a tree all just in front of his own house! The 14 time major winner admitted yesterday, “This situation is my fault and it’s obviously embarrassing to my family and me. I’m human and I’m not perfect. I will certainly make sure this doesn’t happen again.”
The press revealed that Woods was having an affair on his wife, Elin Nordegren, with 34 year old Rachel Uchitel. From this, rumours that have developed include the belief that distraught Elin charged outside of their house behind Woods before causing damage and distraction with flying Golf Clubs which is thought to be what caused the collisions. Woods was fast to dismiss the rumours explaining, “The many false, unfounded and malicious rumours that are currently circulating about my family and me are irresponsible.”
Since the allegations were made, they have quickly been dismissed from both Tiger Woods and Rachel Uchitel who explained, “We have never had an affair, talked on the phone or sent any type of text, sexy or not," she added. "I am really upset about it because I am being portrayed as a home wrecker when it simply isn't true."
All of this commotion has caused bookies and punters to think about how this drama is going to affect the champion’s performance. Irish bookies Paddy Power is one of the first bookies to re think the betting odds.
There is still doubt whether or not Tiger Wood’s will take part in this week’s Chevron World Challenge. The tournament director Greg McLaughlin explained, “We do not know if Tiger is playing, but we are anticipating a great week of competition.”
Paddy Power is offering 13/8 that Tiger will not win a Major title in 2010 and odds on Tiger winning all four majors has lengthened from 20/1 to 28/1.
A spokesman from Paddy Power said, “It’s not often punters have the chance to win money by backing against Tiger but they seem to believe that recent goings-on at his Florida home may take its toll on his performance heading into next season”
