This week's horse racing tips:
Twist again
Paul Nicholls' Twist Magic looked awesome when thrashing reigning two mile champion chaser Vor Por Ustedes in last month's Tingle Creek Chase at Sandown and there will be a big crowd at Ascot on Saturday to see him attempt to follow up in the Victor Chandler Chase. Twist Magic will start at very skinny odds so a forecast is suggested to boost returns. The talented Irish raider Mansony is the obvious danger but putting Twist Magic's ultra reliable stablemate Hoo La Baloo in for second could prove much better value.
At Wincanton Border Castle is well worth a bet in the Connaught Partnerships Handicap Hurdle. The gelding will be having his first run since last May but he has a superb record when coming back from a break and it is also encouraging that he hails from the in-form stable of Andy Haynes.
If Nicky Richards sends Great Approach on the long haul from Cumbria to Somerset for the Connaught Environmental Handicap Hurdle the hint must be taken. The seven-year-old showed useful form last season and will be all the better for his comeback run at Sandown last month when he ran well until lack of fitness found him our between the last two flights.
Olympian gold
Charlie Longsdon has quickly made his mark since joining the training ranks and the Gloucestershire based handler can collect another gold medal with Olympian in the Book Your Hospitality On 01673 843434 Handicap Hurdle at Market Rasen on Sunday. The French import showed next to nothing on his first three runs in this country but a close second at Huntingdon on Boxing Day indicated he was now acclimatising.
The Best UK Courses On TurfTV Handicap chase gives triple winner Glingerbank another chance to make a deposit in his owner's account. The Nicky Richard-trained gelding has only been out of the first three once in seven starts and looked in fine fettle when winning at Kelso last time. The handicapper could have erred on the side of leniency for once in leaving his rating unchanged at 112.
