The Weekends Six Nations Betting

24th February, 2009

The Six Nations returns this weekend, kicking off on Friday with France vs Wales, then Scotland vs Italy and finally England vs Ireland.

After a much needed break players have recovered from injuries, and will be fresh and ready to do battle.

France welcome the reigning Champions to the Stade de France in Paris, and will be looking to improve on round two’s form. After holding on to beat the Scots, through a controversial try. ‘Le blues’ were less than convincing in their performance.

Wales will have their twinkle toed winger Shane Williams back, and centre Jamie Roberts is fully fit, both are ready to feature in the squad for Friday night’s encounter.

Bookies believe the match will be a close one, as the French are always difficult to beat on home ground. Bet 365, Coral, Paddy Power and Ladbrokes all give even odds at 10/11 for both, showing just how hard it is to call a winner at the moment.

Italy will make the trip to Murray Field for Saturday’s game. Both Scotland and Italy are yet to win a game and will both be hoping to ignite their tournament with a victory.

The Italian’s will be hoping to improve further on their round 2 performance, while Scotland will want to repeat their round to performance only with a win at the end Ladbrokes and Stan James have the Scots as strong favourites to win at home at 2/9. Bet 365, Ladbrokes, Paddy Power, Stan James all seem to feel Italy’s chances are slim, but not impossible making them 3/1 underdogs.

Ireland greet England at Croke Park as well on Saturday.

Both teams are very physical and will be eager to get the upper hand at the set piece. England and Ireland’s second round performance will fill both with confidence heading into the clash, however the rivals will know not to under estimate the other.

Both Bet365 and Paddy Power put Ireland at 3/10 favourites, with Ladbrokes making England 9/4 underdogs.
