Third ATP Title for Murray
29th October, 2007
Andy Murray has secured his third career title, comprehensively beating Fernando Verdasco in the final of the St Petersburg Open. He beat the Spaniard in straight sets 6-2 6-3, to cap an outstanding week in Russia. Murray settled quickly into the game, and his power proved too much for Verdasco, as break points fell to the Scot who ran out deserved the winner.
Murray has his eyes set on gaining a spot in the prestigious season-ending Masters Cup in Shanghai, where only the top eight players in the ATP 2007 Race can compete. Murray is now only three points behind eight-placed Tommy Haas, and has put himself very much in contention with only one ranking tournament remaining – this week’s Paris Masters.
Murray is now sixth favourite with Ladbrokes to take the Paris Masters title at 25/1, behind Federer (4/6), Nadal (5/1), Djokovic (7/1), Nalbandian (16/1) and Davydenko (20/1). All odds available at Ladbrokes. Don’t forget to use our free live odds comparison service to keep track of Paris Masters odds.
