Singapore Night Race:
The sound of F1 cars whizzing around the new Singapore street track is enough to attract millions of viewers worldwide. But how about the race taking part at night when the cities skyline is lit up in all its magnificence? F1 drivers, teams and fans are preparing for the first ever night race event in the history of the sport.
This season has already been packed with excitement, drama, thrills and controversy and this promises to continue in the far east this weekend.
Drivers will be looking forward to the challenges of racing at night, however the course will be lit up by huge flood lights far more powerful than those seen at football stadiums. The drivers championship is wide open with only one point separating first and second place, after Hamilton's appeal against the penalty imposed on him in the Belgium Grand Prix was rejected.
Massa, as a result kept the win and is Hamilton only real rival with former champion Kimi Raikkonen out of the running. The timing of the race means that normal preparation will have to be timed in accordance with the race start. Acclimatising to the time difference will have to be done by drivers as they are used to performing best in the afternoon over a weekend.
Hamilton explained to the BBC, "Our doctor has prepared a very precise schedule for the drivers to stick to because all the [track] sessions are so late in the day,"
Therefore drivers will be eating and going to bed in the early hours and sleeping through the day. This won't be easy however as Toyota doctor Riccardo Ceccarelli explained, "The human body has evolved so that we're active during daylight and asleep at night, and its internal mechanisms are regulated by these timings."
So all drivers will be trying not to settle into the local time and will sleep during the day.
