Strictly come dancing-who would you put your money on winning?
12th November, 2008
As with all talent contests, regardless of talent, it is crucial that contestants win over the voting audiences with personality, carisma and charm. This has been perfectly showcased by the lovable John Sergent, who, inspite of his lack of talent and the negativity from the judges, is kept in Strictly Come Dancing week after week by his adoring public.
Whether we keep him in because of his witty humour or because watching him attempting to dance is the highlight of the show, I could not tell you, however, for all his adoring fans out there I can reveal that though his odds of winning are not good (33/1 betfred and 888sport) he does not have the worst odds.
Unfortunately for Jodie Kid, whilst her long limbs were super for modelling, they sometimes appear so long that she cannot control them when dancing, this might explain, in part why her odds are the worst, 50/1 (coral) and 89/1(betfair).
Unsurprisingly, Austin Healy is the hot favourite to win with odds of 7/5 (bet365) and 5/4 (betdirect).
However, last week Austin did not perform as well as he has done previously and was told that those muscles that are so greatly admired by women up and down the country could be impeding him. Depending on how he dances this week it might well be that he loses his position as top dog to Tom Chambers or Cherie Lunghi who have odds of 5/2 and 6/1 (Ladbrokes) respectively.
In truth, sad as it is to say, the competition is still very open to everyone, except perhaps to Jodie and John. Here's a look at the betting odds for some of the other serious contenders
- Lisa Snowdon (7/1 betinternet)
- Rachel Stevens (8/1 betdirect)
- Christine Bleakley (16/1 betfred)
Lisa has been told that she has improved dramatically, Rachel and Vicent have great chemistry and she is a good performer and Christine is bubbly and extremely enthusiastic.
Our Tip:
Tom Chambers and Lisa Snowdon at 7/1 with Bet Internet.
Austin will go further in the competition, most probably to the final, however i think his main competition will be Tom Chambers and Lisa Snowdon.
Tom is versatile and seems to master any dance he attempts, unlike Cherie and Austin who both have had difficulties. Being an actor, he is a great performer and is exciting to watch. Lisa on the other hand seems very driven and determined to win; she will not go out without a fight.
