Stoke help send David James to the World Cup 2010
15th January, 2010
It has been revealed recently that Portsmouth goal keeper intends to leave Fratton Park and online bookies Sky Bet have opened a market about David James future club after the January transfer window.
Betting odds include a price of 5/4 that he stays at Portsmouth, 5/2 to move to Manchester United, 11/4 that Tottenham takes him and 16/1 that Arsenal decide to sign him.
However there is a price of 7/1 that the keeper moves to Stoke after the January transfer window. It is rumoured that Stoke manager Tony Pulis is eager to get hold of the England keeper to help Stoke in their quest to beat Liverpool when they face them tomorrow.
James has made no secret of his desire to be selected for the World Cup squad and having only played twice for Portsmouth since October, he is aware of the importance of having regular play if you want to be selected so is seeking a club where he will be guaranteed a 1st team place.
Stoke manager explained, “We’ll have to see if the two clubs can come to a deal and were hoping it will be tied up for the weekend but it will have to be right for us, If we can get him we’ll be absolutely delighted.” He went on to say, “James has something to prove, He’ll want to be on that plan to South Africa and that attracts me to him more than anything else”
Online bookies 888 Sport are offering a price of 5/4 that Liverpool will win tomorrow, whilst Stoke are backed at 23/10 to get a win and odds of 21/10 are available for a draw.
