Stoke City vs Arsenal Preview

25th February, 2010

Could it be third time lucky for the Gunners at the Britannia Stadium? It wouldn’t be wrong to say that Arsene Wenger probably doesn’t like his trips to the potteries much, as last season his North London side lost 2-1 and it was a similar state of affairs with the FA Cup last month where they lost 3-1.

However these defeats haven’t stopped the bookies from going odds on that Arsenal will make it third time lucky and beat Stoke City with odds from Stan James offering 8/11 that Wenger will return from Staffordshire with three points. The price partly reflects that Arsenal have had a week’s break since their last game whilst Stoke played 120mins of football on Wednesday.

Despite this slight disadvantage, Stoke haven’t been beaten so far in 2010 and Sky Bet are offering odds of 9/2 for the win. Abdoulaye Faye is returning from suspension for the match; however it was his central defensive partner Ryan Shawcross who grabbed the winner on Wednesday who is priced at 25/1 with Blue Square to score the first goal.

The draw is priced at 13/5 with Sky Bet for the game to take place this Saturday.
