Sol Campbell looks set to move to Manchester United

11th December, 2009

There has been immense speculation about where Sol Campbell will end up at the end of the January transfer window and there have are several rumours that Sir Alex Ferguson is after him! Recently there has been a lot of links between Sol Campbell and Manchester United and Campbell has spoken out revealing that he would be honoured to play at Old Trafford.

Whilst the rumours of United wanting to take on Sol Campbell have been dismissed by Ferguson, Campbell did admit, “I have heard nothing officially from Manchester United, but there have been suggestions and of course, it would be a great move for me, if it happens.”

The former England Defender is currently keeping fit with Arsenal but regardless of his fitness levels it is seen that players past 30 years old ‘golden oldies’ and may not be the most worthwhile investment for the club. However, it cannot be denied that the former Notts county player has a career that contains 73 England caps giving him plenty of professional football experience for him to draw on!

It is clear that Ferguson is going to have to look into his current injury situation as he was left short of 8 defenders against Germany on Tuesday night but was lucky to have Owen on top form as he scored his first hat trick in four years making the final score 3-1 to United. This would open up a window for Sol Campell who is free to return to the game, he explained, “I am training as usual at Arsenal, and would go to train at Manchester United if I was asked.”
