Snow is falling all around us

4th December, 2008

As children in the north of England and Scotland opened advent calendars this more they were also greeted by the news of hundreds of closed schools.

Snow and bad weather conditions were the cause of closures today. While the weather was reported to be not as bad as first anticipated forecasters warn blizzard conditions and snowfalls of 20cm (7.8in) are still possible.

With several areas in the UK saw snow fall last night and more expected, the news has prompted bookmakers to cut odds again as the prospect of a white Christmas is becoming more likely.

Ladbrokes were just one of many bookies to cut odds from 7/1 down to and 5/2 as icy conditions cause chaos across many places in the country. BetFair have followed suit but dropping their odds to 4.2/1 while both SkyBet and Totesport have decreased theirs to 4/1.

The Met office has released severe weather warnings for the north believing that there is more to come with blizzards on the way.

However even with the worsening weather reports bookies remain confident the big day will stay true to English traditional and remain without snowfall. With Odds from most bookmakers for no snow fall on Christmas day being around 0.2/1

Our prediction for a white Christmas is, While it is very likely for snowfall in the north of the UK and Ireland the chances of snowfall for the south on Christmas day is a lot less probable.
