Sir Alex Ferguson unlikely to leave his post
21st December, 2009
This weekend saw Manchester Untied visit Craven Cottage to play Fulham but they left having being defeated 3-0.
Manchester United were at one point seen as the most likely to steal the Premier League title but now Sir Alex Ferguson is running a injury ridden team it seems that the chances of them coming out top are narrowing each match they play.
Saturdays match against Fulham proved that playing without 7 defenders is taking its toll and the game highlighted careless mistakes and sloppy relationships between players that cost them the game.
Ferguson explained, “The way the league is at the moment I hope this result is not too damaging and doesn’t cost us the league. We’ll have to get our defenders back to give us a proper chance of going for the league, there’s no question of that. But if we get them back we’ll be back in it. The quicker they’re back the better.”
With Mark Hughes the latest manager to get sacked, there is question of whether or not Sir Alex Ferguson will be sent packing. Bookies seem confident that the United manager is safe and will remain with Old Trafford until retirement, with online bookies Sky Bet offering odds as long as 66/1 that he is removed from his post.
Ladbrokes are offering the latest odds on which team will win the Premier League and after Manchester United has lost their fifth game, odds for them to win the title have lengthened giving the lead to Chelsea after their 1-1 draw at Upton Park.
Chelsea are priced at 4/7 favourite, whilst Manchester United are backed at 3/1 second favourite followed by Arsenal at 5/1.
