Schalke v Barcelona Preview, Betting and Tips
1st April, 2008
There is no doubt Schalke face a tough task this evening, against one of Europe’s biggest clubs, however this match could throw up a good result for the home side. The German side’s coach Mirko Slomka is confident his side are meeting Barcelona at just the right time, as his side have won three and drawn one of their last four games, whilst his opponents have only won one of their last seven games.
The Spanish giants have conceded 12 goals in their last six games, and more if the league cup is included, and this is something the Germans will look to exploit. Barcelona also still have a number of injuries to content with, as Messi, Presas, Jorquera, Ronaldinho, Deco and possible Eto will not make the starting team.
Somewhat unsurprisingly, Barcelona have been installed as huge favourites, at 9/4 with Bet 365. 6/5 is one of the better prices available for an away win with Boylesports but this may not attract a lot of money. The draw at 11/5 with the same bookmaker may be a wise choice for the 1x2 market.
A brave punt may be a 1-0 win for the home side, at 8/1 with Party Bets. A safer option may be on the handicaps with Barcelona -0.25 at nearly evens with some bookmakers. This way you get a payout if the away side draws or wins the game.
