Savage to the Rams
8th January, 2008
Blackburn player Robbie Savage is set to move switch to Premiership strugglers Derby County in the January transfer window after Blackburn accepted a bid.
The Welshman has met officials from the club to discuss terms, and is now hopeful of concluding the deal overnight. He told Sky Sports News: "I've not signed yet but I'll be coming back tomorrow and hopefully I'll be signing. I think there's a very strong possibility."
Derby are eight points adrift at the bottom of the table, but new manager Paul Jewell has already brought in a number of new faces in the transfer window. The lack of first team football allegedly led to a fall out with Blackburn boss Mark Hughes. The midfielder commented: "It's a well-known fact that I want to play first-team football and Paul has said I will get that here.
"Although mathematically Derby are not relegated, if they do go down they are looking to bounce straight up."
Derby are an incredible 1/250 to be relegated this season with Betfred, with Ladbrokes sensationally paying out on their relegation in the Christmas period.
