Ronaldinho set to leave Barcelona

19th May, 2008

Joan Laporta, president of Spanish giants Barcelona, has explained how he thinks Ronaldinho may have played his last game for the side.

The 28-year-old Brazilian has had a challenging season with Barcelona, starting only 20 games. He has also recently been hampered by a leg problem, and has not played since 9th March. Laporta told a TV station: "We've told him that he needs new challenges. When you finish an era it's normal that the leading figures should leave."

He continued: "I very much hope that Ronaldinho can leave as Frank Rijkaard has done, with his head held high, and that we can remember him as the man who gave us two League titles and one Champions League title. "I am very grateful to Ronaldinho."
