Roma v Man United Preview, Betting and Tips
1st April, 2008
Man United travel to Rome this evening to play AS Roma in the quarter finals of the Champions League. The Italian side will be looking to avenge their 7-1 drubbing they suffered in Manchester at this stage of the competition last year, as they had won the first leg 2-1. The two sides have met an impressive six times in the past year, having also been paired up in the group stages of the competition.
Roma will be without their talismanic striker and captain Totti, who is out with a thigh injury. This will be a huge blow to the home side, but coach Spalletti thinks they have enough quality to overcome the side he thinks are the “best in the world”. Man United will be buoyed by the return to fitness of keeper Edwin van der Sar, with no fresh injury worries.
Roma can be grabbed for best odds of 11/5 with Paddy Power, which is unlikely to be a popular choice. The draw is generally available at 2/1, which is also far too short to put any serious money on. The more popular choice will be an away win for Manchester United, at 6/4 with Bet 365. Some may again find this price too short and so look elsewhere for value.
Draw/Man United is at 5/1 with Blue Square, whilst a Man United win to nil looks decent value at 10/3 with Skybet. There are loads of special bets available on the game, keep an eye on our Gaming Alerts software as they become available throughout the day.
