Reading v Arsenal Odds and Preview

12th November, 2007

This evening’s Premiership clash sees the high-flying gunners travel to Reading, in what most expect will be a walkover for the title contenders. The Royals are 12th in the league, but should not be taken lightly after nearly qualifying for a UEFA Cup spot last season, after just being promoted from the Championship. They will however not be expecting miracles having conceded eight goals in the last three games, losing two games in the process.

They may some comfort in the fact that they may not be facing a full-strength side, after Wenger hinted at some rotation taking place: "I will change things around, I don’t know by how much though. I left out eight players at Slavia and they are all capable to play again.

"We have just Van Persie injured now. Senderos is back in full training but we will not use him on Monday because he has not played at all. Rosicky is back and Toure is back. They had a good session today."

Reading are 6/1 to cause an upset at home and take the victory, which some may find to be great value. The bookies make Arsneal huge favouties away from home at 4/9, and the draw is available at 10/3 with Totesport. After three straign draws (1-1 draw at Liverpool, a 2-2 draw with Manchester United, and a 0-0 draw at Slavia Prague), some may find the draw a fairly attractive punt. There is no doubt that there are many opportunities to bet on this game, but the most popular value bet seems to be the Asian Handicap; Arsenal -1 at around 4/5.

Paddy Power are providing another great special for the game: Tackle From Behind. If Arsenal lead at any time and fail to win, Paddy Power will refund all losing 1st/last goalscorer, correct score and scorecast single bets.
