Ramos won’t raid Sevilla
1st November, 2007
The sudden move of Juande Ramos from Sevilla to Tottenham Hotspur has lead to speculation that the highly rated manager will make a move for some of his favoured players at his old club, namely Fredi Kanoute and Daniel Alves.
However, the new boss at White Hart Lane insists that he has absolutely no plans to swoop for the pair, claiming the speculation is based on no facts whatsoever. Ramos told AS: "I am surprised because I did not know this side of the English press. They have invented everything. I wanted my first words to be in the press conference on Tuesday and I did not talk to anyone before. Things I cannot control I do not worry about because otherwise I would become very angry. I do not want to sign anyone from Sevilla nor any other team. I want to know what we already have."
The manager remains confident of his teams ability, believing that they will soon be able to lift themselves out of the relegation zone. Their campaign was yesterday boosted by a comfortable 2-0 victory over Blackpool. "The feeling is very positive. The players are doing everything that is being asked of them, I can see that. With a little bit of luck and some good results we can regain the confidence and make life a bit easier. We have to find a system that best suits the players and I believe that we will do that. I want to see the team competing and continuing to improve as things are changed. The club is in an uncomfortable situation. It is not going to be like that forever. That has to be changed and I expect that to happen while we are here. Tottenham are one of the five biggest clubs in England."
The bookies are confident that Spurs will avoid relegation, giving odds of 20/1 to go down with Bet 365. Derby, Wigan and Birmingham are favourites for the drop, according to our odds comparison service.
